TRi PhD student Moira Weir successfully completed her PhD research entitled ‘The role of taxis in the supply of transport to the night time economy and identification of the barriers to the full realisation of that role’. This research examined the regulatory framework and taxi workforce characteristics and the extent to which these factors impacted on taxi supply to the night time economy, and involved research participants from the regulatory bodies and senior figures from taxi companies and new providers such as Uber and Get Taxi. The work was supervised by Dr Jonathan Cowie and Dr Kathryn Stewart, the external examiner was Dr Marcus Enoch of Loughborough University, and the internal examiner Professor Tom Rye. Many congratulations to Moira and her supervisory team!
