Miia MacDougall

Senior Alumni Relations Manager

I have spent the last 20 years working in higher education in a variety of roles from coordinating UK study abroad programmes for American University students to building global alumni networks. Prior to joining Edinburgh Napier in 2019 I worked at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as Senior Associate Director for Alumni Relations creating lifelong engagement opportunities for Business School alumni in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and beyond. I am passionate about building alumni networks and connecting communities that support the student experience and advance alumni careers. 

I am a native of Finland but have called the UK home for nearly 20 years now. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management from JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Finland.

My favourite thing to do in Edinburgh is… to climb up the Pentland Hills to enjoy the breath-taking views of the Edinburgh city skyline.  

Ashleigh Thow

Alumni Relations Manager

I am an Edinburgh Napier alumnus having studied BA(Hons) Design and Digital Arts at the University. I joined in 3^rd year after completing my HND in Visual Communication at Aberdeen College. After graduating in 2013, I have gone on to gain extensive experience in marketing, communications, events and membership engagement. I joined the Alumni Team in January 2020. Prior to that I worked at organisations such as The Royal Â鶹ÉçÇø of Edinburgh, Creative Edinburgh, Dovecot Studios and National Museums Scotland.  

My favourite thing to do in Edinburgh is... Walk the Water of Leith! 

Morven Skirving

Alumni Relations Officer

After graduating from Edinburgh Napier in 1997, I worked in senior administrative positions within several industries including Education, Finance, Pharmaceutical Research, Event Management and Animal Welfare, gaining a wealth of transferrable skills, experience and knowledge. I laterally worked in Events and Alumni Relations for over a decade within an independent school in Edinburgh, finding a passion for keeping people connected. I joined the Edinburgh Napier Alumni team in Spring 2022 and will be developing our international alumni network communities.

My favourite thing to do around Edinburgh is… enjoy the atmosphere around the High Street during the Edinburgh Festival.

Martina Birotti

Alumni Relations and Communications Coordinator

I am a double Â鶹ÉçÇø alumnus. I started off at Edinburgh Napier in 2016 with a BA(Hons) Languages and Intercultural Communication and topped it up with a Msc in Marketing with Digital Strategy, graduating in autumn 2021. I then came back to university as a member of staff in March 2022. Before that, when I wasn’t studying for my degree, I was working in hospitality or in social media marketing for an LGBT+ business networking company.

My favourite thing to do in Edinburgh is... having a cold drink in the meadows on a rare sunny day!
